Rites of Passage
Marriage and Commitment Ceremonies
Marriage is a promise, a covenant, held in the hearts of two people who deeply love and care for each other and who have made the choice to legally, spiritually, and lovingly weave their lives together. We gather our friends, family, and community together to honor and witness our commitment ceremonies. The vows made during a wedding strengthen the existing relationship and reinforce the foundations for the future. The ceremony is just one moment in time that points towards the future and the reminder that a couple’s love will change, transform, and mature over the years.
Our beautiful facilities and our property are welcoming to people of all identities, sexual orientations, and genders, for all kinds of marriage ceremonies and other commitment ceremonies, from large formal ceremonies to small family and close friends intimate ceremonies. Our minister is available to officiate and co-create wedding ceremonies.
A benefit of membership in our congregation includes the services of our minister and use of our properties for significant rites of passage; to schedule a member ceremony, please contact the minister and/or the office.
People who are not members of the congregation may rent our facilities and hire our minister to officiate; to arrange for the services for our minister, please email the minister at [email protected]. In the email indicate whether you would like to rent our facilities.

Memorial Services
It can be hard to decide how to honor the memory of a recently deceased loved one, especially if that person never belonged to a congregation. It is easy to imagine it might be simplest to have a gathering at someone’s home or at a secular facility, like a restaurant or club. But then you start to think of all the little details… will there be enough chairs for everyone to sit? Who will speak? How can you ensure that everyone is able to hear? Wouldn’t it be nice to have some music? Memorial services are one of the things that churches do well. We guide you in honoring the memory of your deceased loved one. And we are here to take care of those many details that can be overwhelming.
A memorial service is a very personal occasion. In Unitarian Universalist congregations, these services are developed collaboratively with the minister and the by the family of the deceased to honor the memory of the individual. We often call them a “Celebration of Life” rather than a funeral.
The service may include the following elements:

Child Dedications
People have always gathered to recognize and to celebrate new life in their midst. We do this because each child holds a promise for the future. Each child blesses us with their presence. And in turn, we bless each child. To say it takes a village to raise a child is to acknowledge that parents need the support of a wide circle of family and friends as they raise their children.
Within Unitarian Universalist congregations, child dedications are primarily a recognition of the relationship between the congregation, the child, and the family. We invite friends, family, and the gathered congregation to dedicate themselves to love, support, and foster the growth of the child and family throughout their lives and time with the congregation. Dedications are performed during our regular Sunday morning worship services.
To discuss child dedications, please contact the minister and/or the Director of Religious Exploration.
